Released from ______. (A Study in Romans)
All of us are stuck. If we took an honest look at our life, we’d have to admit that there’s something hanging us up, and we can’t seem to get out of it. And our experience of this “stuckness” grates on our feelings of self-sufficiency, because we can’t seem to get ourselves out. We’ve tried life hacks to feel better, but we just keep getting disappointed with our inability to free ourselves. In steps the gospel. The gospel comes into that reality and provides freedom. But the freedom the gospel offers is not just some vague sense of release that is meant to cheer us up. The freedom that we have in Jesus is incredibly specific. The problem of our “stuckness” is matched by the solution of the freedom Jesus offers. When we let Jesus have his way and let his gospel lay over all of our life, we may be surprised at which areas of our lives begin to wrestle free. This series will look at the ways we tend to feel stuck in the Christian life and how the freedom we’re wanting comes from the gospel alone and not from our self-reliant efforts.
